Julia Saradjian, (Joujou) was born in Abadan, Iran into an Armenian Heritage. She started painting at the age of thirteen with a famous art teacher in Tehran, Iran named Bazile. As her primary education she learned the art of reproduction of the Masters such as, works from Surikoff, Michael Angelo , Renoir, Monet, Rembrandt, and Gainsborough.

She moved to United States, and in California she started attending Hollywood High school for continued education.

She was praised for her talent and her outstanding painting techniques, consequently was awarded several scholarships to Otis Fine Art Institute and Art Center College which she attended with high enthusiasm. With all the new excitement in her life she chose Fine Arts as her primary interest in education, and finished her AA degree in Fine Arts from Los Angeles City College.

In 1972 she decided to move to Europe where she would find all the original works of art that she had learned about throughout these years. In London she registered in a private school called Byam Show School of Fine Arts and Design. There she learned Etching and Lithography while visiting all main Galleries and Museums, the private exhibit of “Munch” one of her favorite Art Forms The Expressionist, and from there she traveled to Paris, The Louvre Museum, visited The Rodan Gallery, and many other sights.


On her spring break she visited Prado Museum in Spain, El Greco Museum in Toledo, and many other sights. Later visiting Amsterdam she experienced Rembrandt House, her life time favorite, and of course the Van Gough Museum. Upon returning to U.S. she has been painting ever since.

Her styles have moved from self -expression of the young artist , to the Impressionistic portraits of models, and always the realistic forms of Nature Morte. She has participated in many Group exhibits where she has won first place prizes and has held at least two one woman shows in Los Angeles Galleries. Her versatility in style and strong brush strokes have gained her many praises. She paints people and characters with sensitivity and ease.

Julia Saradjian (Joujou), is a member of Who’s Who in California since 1980, for her outstanding achievements. She has a studio in Downtown Los Angeles, where she continues to paint and produce great works of art.
